    Aigars Nords is wine lover, entrepreneur, and founder of Baltic Wine List Awards. The first in the Baltics to acquire WSET Diploma, he set up Riga Wine & Champagne festival in 2012. Since then the festival has grown into a grand celebration of fine wine & champagne, and includes Latvia’s most anticipated tastings – Top 100 wines of Wine of the Year competition, and Bubble Parade at the National Museum of Arts.

    Why do we care about wine? | Mark Andrew MW, Noble Rot

    Mark Andrew is a Master of Wine based in London, where he and Dan Keeling are co-founders of Noble Rot magazine and the wine bar/restaurant of the same name. The magazine was launched in early 2013 as an alternative to traditional wine media, and is now distributed to 30+ countries around the world. The wine bar/restaurant followed in 2015 and won consecutive 'Wine List of the Year' awards at the 2016 and 2017 National Restaurant Awards and 2016 Harden's Awards.

    Peter Liem is an American wine writer, and author of, an award-winning online guide to Champagne, as well as highly acclaimed book Champagne: The essential guide to the Wines, Producers, and Terroirs. His writings have appeared in publications such as The World of Fine Wine, Decanter. In 2014 he partnered with Daniel Johnnes of La Paulée de New York to create La Fête du Champagne, the most high-profile Champagne event in the United States to date.

    Raimonds Tomsons is the Head Sommelier and CEO of Vincents restaurant in Riga, Latvia, one of the top restaurants in the Baltic countries. In 2017 Raimonds won the title of The Best Sommelier of Europe and Africa. Raimonds is a Board member of the Latvian Association of Sommeliers, Jury member of Latvia’s Wine of the Year competition, The Head of Jury of Baltic Wine List Awards.

    Billy Wagner is owner, host and sommelier at Nobelhart & Schmutzig in Berlin, one of Berlin’s highly acclaimed Michelin star restaurants. Before opening Nobelhart & Schmutzig in 2015, Billy worked in some of the leading German restaurants as well as won numerous awards including a two-time title of the Sommelier of the Year of Germany. Billy is a major proponent of the philosophy of regional wines — individual artifacts of their origin from healthy soils and indigenous grapes.

    Kristjan Peäske is partner of Leib and Umami restaurants in Tallinn, Estonia. He started his career as a maître d’ at Pädaste Manor on the island of Muhu, worked in 5* hotels across Estonia and won a number of sommelier competitions (Estonia’s best sommelier, Baltic’s best sommelier) before opening Leib in 2011 and Umami in 2014. Kristjan is the Vice-President of Estonia’s Sommelier Association.
