Riga’s Magnum Bar has one of the most ambitious champagne lists we’ve ever seen not just in Riga, not just Latvia or Baltic countries, but the whole world. The owner and sommelier Santa Bernahl has gone that extra mile browsing the world’s leading collections, cellars and auction houses to create a champagne wonderland that could literally make the leading champagne bars of New York, London or Tokyo nervous.
Care for a KRUG vertical? Why not. Let’s start with 1979 vintage. Maybe Salon? Absolutely. 1995 vintage is adorable now. Just don’t get us wrong. You don’t have to drink old krugs, salons or cristals in Magnum – there’s a huge choice of nicely priced Champagne growers (Dhondt-Grellet, Legras & Haas, Pierre Péters, Vilmart), Burgundy (Lafon’s basic Meursaults and Macons, for example), Bordeaux, Rhone valley, and other surprises. Make yourself at home in that comfy interior of Ilse Crawford and enjoy!
