Riviera has been Riga’s favourite for un-fussy, down-to-earth, but refined and elegant food as long as we can remember. Led by a dream-team of chef Jānis Sokolovskis and sommeliers Eduards Jakuševskis and Ivars Kalniņš, Riviera offers an unbeatable mixture of Italian, Spanish, French and Greek cuisine combined with a world class wine list.
Let us be frank with you, wine list is not really the right word here – a wine encyclopedia or bible would probably better depict this comprehensive tome of everyone from who-is-who in the wine world. Although its strength lies in the classic Old World regions with plenty of styles, producers and vintages on offer, Riviera is actually quite strong in classic New World too. So if you ain’t too keen on Austrian Grüner or Riesling, you’ll sure be able to find plenty of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc here. And last but not least - Riviera is another showcase of Riga’s love affair with Champagne, since this list is full of nicely priced treasures from the top growers to big houses.
Sommelier’s Pick: 2004 Le Macchiole "Paleo" Bolgheri DOC (Toscana, Italy), Champagne Agrapart 7 Crus Brut and Champagne J.Lassalle 1er Cru Brut Rosé (Champagne, France)
